Over 150 Acres of Forest Preserved...
...but our work has only just begun. The Cumberland Community Forest Society, and their friends and supporters, have accomplished an amazing feat over the past 5 years. They have ensured the protection of over 150 acres of beautiful forest lands surrounding the Village of Cumberland.
New monthly donors are needed to meet monthly fundraising targets. Make monthly donations (pdf 190 Kb) of $10 or more towards the forest, or give a one-time donation (pdf 112 Kb). The CCFS now has charitable status, allowing us to give tax receipts for all donations over $10.

The Riding Fool Hostel and Seeds Natural Food Market have 'challenged' each other and the community to help the Forest Society reach the goal of of 20 new donors @ $20 per month (or 40 @ $10) during the month of May. Stop by the Riding Fool or Seeds and pledge your sponsorship for this Cumberland treasure - it is an enourmous part of what makes our Village so special!
Most of our mountain bike and walking/hiking trails do not currently fall within the boundary of the protected forest and are still at high risk of being clear-cut. Help our forest grow and flourish, and continue to inpsire by increasing the protected area. If we can reach this goal, we can then set our sights on purchasing an additonal piece of land.

In cooperation with The Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS) the Forbidden Freeriders are proud to coordinate the Valley's first bicycle sale and swap with 10% of all sales going to the CCFS! SALE starts Sunday, May 24 at 12pm and runs until 4pm. So start sorting out your stuff in the garage and instead of leaving it to rot, trade it in for something you want!
DROP OFFS: Saturday, May 23 from 4pm - 6pm and Sunday, May 24 from 11am - 12pm to the CRI car park in Cumberland. Road to mountain, kids to commuter - bikes, frames, forks, parts, clothing, shoes, tools and accessories. Obviously we don't want garbage or rusty bits of metal, the bikes must work and the clothes clean and wearable. No helmets will be accepted for safety reasons.
If you can help as a volunteer for this event, we do need a limited number of people to help. Their incentive is they get first pick of the sale items at the start of the sale! FMI: email forbiddenfreeriders@yahoo.com
