The Cumberland Community Forest Society has engaged EcoFish Research to carry out research on the Perseverance Creek System in 2017/2018. Funds for this project come from the Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program awarded the CCFS – $200,000 for acquisition and $20,000 for research on the Perseverance Creek Lands.  These projects will be carries out in consultation with land owners, the Perseverance Streamkeepers and the community and include:

-Proper Functioning Condition (PFC) assessment, Fish Habitat Assessment Procedure (FHAP)
-Overview Assessment and Level-1 Field Assessment for Perseverance Creek

The goals of the project are:

  1. To understand the current status of the ecological function of Perseverance Creek’s riparian area;
  2. To understand the current status of fish use in Perseverance Creek;
  3. To understand the current status of fish habitats in Perseverance Creek;
  4. To understand what (if any) restoration or management opportunities exist to enhance ecological function and fisheries values.

The CCFS and Eco-Fish Research look forward to sharing the progress and outcomes of this project with the community.
