Protect our Forest - Video by Scott Bell

For over 150 years, the Cumberland Forest has given a great deal to our community. Now the CCFS is helping this forest retire from active service. Many thanks to Cumberland Museum & Archives for the photos.

Did you know?

The type of rainshadow forest ecosystems we find here, are naturally rare on our planet.  They are dominated by a unique combination of drought tolerant species such as Douglas-fir, Arbutus and Garry oak and only occupy a narrow band surrounding the Salish Sea and the Gulf Islands within it.  There are more different kinds of plants and animals here than anywhere else in BC and more over-wintering bird species than anywhere else in Canada.

We had the most amazing weekend! Thank you so much for being part of it! Thanks to the generous home and garden owners, the curious visitors, our volunteers and our sponsors First Credit Union & Insurance, The Co-operators, The CV Collective, What’s On Digest, Comox Valley Record Newsroom, John Gower Design and Material Creative! Check out this sweet video from our friends at Island Soul Films. See you all next year!

Wondering what Project Perseverance is all about? It’s our campaign to save a beautiful forest that surrounds a creek in the Comox Lake / Puntledge Watershed… a forest that is scheduled to be logged. You can help this area of the Cumberland Forest grow old and nurture wildlife and community for generations! But time is of the essence.

A large portion of the Cumberland Forest, on Vancouver Island, Canada, is scheduled to be logged this year. With the help of our donors and supporters, the Cumberland Community Forest Society is working to purchase this land, to preserve the forest for everyone’s benefit. Help us save these woods! All the unprotected Cumberland Forest lands are slated to be logged.

The Cumberland Forest is a magical place; help the Cumberland Community Forest Society save it from destruction by donating now.

Take a glimpse at the Cumberland Community Forest, much loved by the people who are dedicated to saving it in 2016.

The Cumberland Community Forest Society threw a sweet after-run party for the 11th annual Perseverance Trail Run AND invited the whole community to join in the fun! Together, we raised funds for the FINAL PUSH in our current fundraising campaign to purchase forest lands slated for logging surrounding the Village of Cumberland. The clock is ticking and we have TREES TO SAVE!

The trees are breathing over the Beaufort Mountains, above the Comox Valley.

In this youth-driven film, students explore what a forest means to them, how it contributes to the health of a community, and why forests are important around the world.

Community members gathered to support the Cumberland Community Forest and celebrate Earth Day!

Tell us why YOU think forests are important!

The Gumboot Fairies gathered in the forest for an exciting project that supports the Cumberland Forest campaign. Here’s a sneak peak.

If charitable giving is part of your financial strategy this year, we would be honoured to be considered.
