The Cumberland Forest community is making history again, with the imminent purchase of 226 acres of beautiful forest lands in the Perseverance Watershed. For the next 23 days we have our hearts and minds set on this ambitious and exciting conservation goal!
But the fundraising deadlines are coming hard and fast.
We have just 1 week left in our $50,000 matching challenge in honour of the late Rob H Daniel. Every single penny raised (up to $50,000) between now and midnight on March 15th will be part of this match. Donate via paypal, Canadahelps or drop off a cheque at the Wandering Moose and the funds you donate will be doubled!
The Art of Perseverance online auction also closes on Sunday March 15th – at 9 pm. The auction features paintings, sculpture, prints, photography, jewelry, board art and more and is all part of the matching challenge – which means every purchase will raise double the funds for the forest. Be sure to check the auction often as some surprise last minute items could appear this week!
Sunday March 29th the community will gather at Coal Creek Historic Park for a community photos and the first annual free Community Walk + Run celebration of our collective efforts. The community of Cumberland and our friends from across the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island are once again making history. Everyone is invited to meet for photo at 12:30 and then we had out into the forest! Hot vegetarian chili and cornbread to follow back at the pavilion.
All this action leads to March 31st – our deadline to raise the remaining $150,000 of a 2.38 million dollar project to purchase and protect the entire forested corridor from Allen Lake to Comox Lake Road.
Help us restore the commons! Donate today and join this incredible conservation story.
