Cumberland’s Home & Garden Tour with a twist coming June 27th!

The annual Cumberland Home & Garden Tour is coming Saturday June 27th and this year’s tour is an adventure filled with stories, art, culture and resilience!

This much anticipated annual tour offers attendees a sneak peek into the curious corners, beautiful builds, glorious gardens, and special stories of the Village of Cumberland. From galleries to churches, from sacred spaces to social gathering spots, and from heritage homes to modern day designs – the tour is a full day exploration of the diverse ways we celebrate home, and community.

Organized by the Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS), this event is a Home & Garden Tour with a twist. This year the CCFS is working in partnership with Comox Valley Arts to amplify the creative sector of the Village through pop up galleries and exhibitions at locations along the way. From textiles to screen printing and from painting to filmmaking, artists are layered throughout this year’s tour. Featured artists this year include Coree Alice, Jaques DeBacker, Mandi Bumble, Amy Muloin, Joanna Finch, Sally Podmore, Jared Popescu, Jipsi Tree, the Comox Valley PrintMakers Association and many more!

Resilience is a theme that is woven into the tour every year. Attendees will discover bountiful urban farms, FireSmart initiatives, solar power projects, water conservation efforts, native plants and pollinator gardens, and special sanctuaries where the soul finds rest and revitalization.

“We are so honoured by the generosity and creativity of the home owners, service organizations and businesses who open their doors for this event.” says Meaghan Cursons, Executive Director of the CCFS. “It is a celebration of the strength and character of our ever-changing community. It honours our rich past and explores our possible futures. We hope attendees will come away inspired by the different ways we connect with each other and build resilience in our lives, at home, and in our communities!”

Tickets are on sale now for $30 with 100% proceeds supporting the land protection, stewardship and environmental education efforts of the Cumberland Forest. The tour is perfect for exploring on 2 wheels, or you can drive to a few hubs and walk from there! With 25 properties on this year’s tour, only the very dedicated will get to them all!
