When we think about building climate resilience in our homes – the starting place is often heat pumps, solar panels, water barrels, and food gardens. But building wildfire resilience is also really important! And there are simple, but very effective, things we can all do to protect our homes in case of a wildfire.
Many of the homes in the upcoming tour have embraced the challange and taken steps to build their wildfire resilience thorugh learning from FireSmart BC. They’ve relocated wood piles, protitized planting deciduous trees and shrubs, cleared dead branches, cleaned eavestroughs, and located combustables away from homes.

You can do it too! No matter where you live in the Comox Valley you can sign up for a FREE FireSmart BC home assessment. Local fire departments take the lead and set up a visit to walk through the simple (and totally voluntary) changes you can make to help build community wildfire resilience.
