Villagers Sacred Solstice

December 21, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm PST

Join us for this open and participatory community event to welcome back the light into the darkest of days and connect with others in this special time which celebrated across both spiritual and secular traditions.

We come together with the intention of sharing healing, love, and peace, recognizing our place on indigenous land.

This year’s event is in two parts:

Wednesday Dec 21st

4pm-530pm

@ No. 6 Mine Park – FREE

All are invited to be part of a simple, gentle and joyful, all ages, participatory solstice gathering with words, music, a candle pyre (where intentions are set by placing a candle on a “tower”) and a sweet little walk with sparkly lights through the lower trails in the Cumberland Forest.

Wednesday Dec 21st

7pm-9pm

@ Weird Church – Ticketed event

Doors open at 7pm for a gentle time with an ambient sound bath and stations for quiet reflection, welcoming all to the tenderness of the night. Concert begins at 7:30 and features choral and traditional music, readings, theatre and dance and more from local performers.

Tickets for the evening portion of the event will be available starting December 1 at CCAS https://ccas.tickit.ca/ on a sliding scale:
$10-30 for adults
$5-10 for children under 16.

Facilitated by Cumberland Culture and Art Society, Weird Church, the Forest Stories Youth Theatre Project, Valley Edge Choir, Cumberland Community Forest Society and others (the list is growing)

Any funds beyond the cost of the event will support the work in the community offered by the CCAS, CCFS, and Weird Church.
