Winter Bird Bioblitz
December 21, 2022 @ 8:00 am - March 22, 2023 @ 8:00 pm PST
Winter Bird BioBlitz in Cumberland – How different kinds of winter birds can we document in a month?
Did you know the Comox Valley is one of the most significant areas for wintering and migratory waterfowl and waterbirds in British Columbia?
We are surrounded by amazing bird habitat and winters in the forests and wetlands of Cumberland is a wonderful time to get to know our neighbours in nature.
Participate in our citizen science project from December 21st to March 22 and record your bird observations through the iNaturalist App or Website. BioBlitz project link:
You can observe birds in your own backyard, or explore the trails along the wetlands for winter birds.
(please keep dogs leashed when exploring along the wetlands to help our feathered friends feel safe to mate and nest)
The Winter Bird BioBlitz is part of the Cumberland Winter Bird Project which includes guided walks, the bio blitz, after school programs and more. Learn more at: https://www.cumberlandforest.com/winterbirds/
