In Honour of Bronco

The CCFS was saddened to hear of the recent passing of local legend William “Bronco” Moncrief. Bronco served the Village for many years and was Mayor in Cumberland from 1969 to 1993, and from 1997 to 2002. If you combine that with his years as councilor before and after being mayor, he had a total of 39 years in politics in Cumberland.

Bronco was a passionate advocate for Cumberland. He shot straight from the hip, loved to stir the pot and cared deeply about the Village and the people who lived here. He made a mark on the Village that has shaped the culture we know and love to today. Pride, perseverance, and community involvement. Everyone who’s ever lived—and lives—in Cumberland cares about their town and its future. Bronco believes that, “Everything they did and currently do is for Cumberland.”

We were honoured to be contacted by Bronco’s family and to hear that they requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ongoing work on the CCFS. https://www.cumberlandforest.com/protect/
