The Cumberland Community Forest Society is seeking a community engaged, nature loving, tech savvy individual to fill a Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator contract for the summer and fall of 2021. This temporary part time contract runs from June 21 to November 19 with flexible hours (12-15 hours/ week) and some weekend and evening obligations.

Contract Summary: The Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator will provide coordination for stewardship projects and community engagement activities for the CCFS in the summer and fall of 2021. This work will take place in Cumberland BC and will require the successful candidate to be available, on the ground, in the Village. Working with and reporting to the Executive Director, the Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

Stewardship

– volunteer and engagement coordination for the Western Toad Project (Summer 2021 )

– coordination of CCFS pop up events / booths (Summer / Fall  2021)

– admin / volunteer support for Fungus Fest (Sept 30-Oct)

– sourcing web content on a variety of stewardship themes

– researching stewardship funding opportunities

– administrative / field support for other stewardship projects (bats, toads, fish) as required

 

Outreach

– developing, updating, and amplifying web (word press) and social media content

– organizing orientation and educational materials and workshops (online and real world)

– updating / managing the CCFS volunteer database and sign-up portals

– outreach and admin support for other CCFS initiatives as required.

 

Qualifications

– passion for science, education, and the natural landscape of Cumberland

– experience in stewardship and/or community non-profit sector

– successful volunteer coordination experience (recruitment, management, celebration)

– responsive and professional communication skills

– solid social media and community marketing skills

– sharp admin, research, and organizational skills

– ability to work collaboratively on documents, apps, and platforms

– desire to build stewardship culture and climate resilience in the Village of Cumberland

 

Contract – $22/hour
